Nothing lasts forever, this is the end of NaughtyKids. I (sweeties) want to thank all lurkers, users, contributors, staff, and outsiders who helped build NK2!
It was quite a journey, let me tell you the story of NaughtyKids!
NK had an official launch in early 2021 as a project created by Boyle (who hosted the server) and hush/if/zz/help (who maintained the server). The start of NK was rocky, and about six months in, it hit an all-time low that lasted for over six months. There was a significant drop in activity as the rules set by the forum weren't being followed, which caused users to leave.
Someone named sweeties noticed this decline and reached out to one of the administrators, saying NK was at a standstill and people were clearly unhappy with the forum. Sweeties asked to join NK as staff and try to bring it back. The administrator said there was nothing to lose, so NK gained a new staff member. (The one writing this text is sweeties. I will now transition to my perspective and my observations.)
When I joined NK, I set out to do a few things: get rid of the awful content and tell the people who had left or threatened to leave that NK would head in a new direction and it was worth sticking around for. I stayed quite busy doing that for months. Eventually, some staff changes happened, and it was decided I should take responsibility for all communication between staff while still being a moderator. After a while, I asked for banner submissions to be added. Then users wanted a dark theme, and I was told to go create one for the forum. Eventually, I was the only one working on NK, and we needed to restructure. This was around the same time as an event I call the big raid, where a bunch of people ended up arrested, including one of the NK administrators, JediFox. Hush got quite wary of everyone involved with NK, and Boyle and hush decided to make me the only administrator of NK.
During my time as an administrator, I continued working on various themes and created various extensions that Boyle uses on other forums to this day. The PGP system is the most notable one. As time progressed, Fylippsi joined me. He didn't do much as an administrator, but I thought it would be nice to have someone other than me running NK. The forum ran quite well, but eventually, cracks started showing. I was forced to bring in as many donations as possible to NK and told that unless NK made enough money, Boyle would shut it down. We were forced to advertise some awful Telegram channel where you pay for content that Boyle created. My way of running NK for those who love children was not what Boyle and hush believed would bring in the most revenue. As they started forcing NK in a direction I didn't agree with, after helping build NK for over two years, everything went down the drain. I made the decision to leave NK and start my own site, xDArt, which hush set up for me. xDArt was run how I wanted it without asking for any donations. Eventually, NK turned into absolute crap after Fylippsi ran it for a few weeks, and nothing was maintained. The initial problems that caused users to run from NK were back. Boyle and hush made up various lies about me and banned me from all their sites, claiming I was a threat to everyone.
What sites Boyle, hush, and Fylippsi are involved with these days should remain unsaid, but it's clear Fylippsi is being subjected to similar abuse by me, and he's not realizing it. The site they're at does ask for donations, promotes hurting children, and lets people sell content as long as they get their share. The lies continue... They sell the site as being a site for child lovers, but the kind of content they allow is far from loving and is all about what might bring them the most money. Boyle and hush use the methods they carefully developed to get other sites involved and work against anyone who doesn't agree with their ways using very clever social engineering.
I wasn't feeling good about the way NK ended, and the way they destroyed xDArt as revenge was straight up wrong. I thought about what happened and came to the conclusion that NK and xDArt never truly finished. I brought xDArt back, and soon after, NK2 was announced. NK2 faced a huge amount of backlash and censorship because of the name and the fact that I still used the name sweeties. At first, it made me quite angry, and it was difficult facing a reality where people I used to know well and work with wished me harm and worked hard to undermine everything I did. As the weeks passed, I got used to it, and honestly, it doesn't matter what they think. I decided to do whatever feels right, and NK2 did the right things.
I ran NK2 for over a year, what a wild journey it's been! The amount of progress and self-development we've all made is incredible. I paid for all of it, never accepting any donations. I maintained the servers alone, facing many difficult times where I had no clue how to solve certain problems, but somehow I managed to make it work. We should celebrate the fact that NK2 was always a safe forum that cared so much about protecting its users. I would be surprised if any arrests came out of NK2 activity. All NK2 data and any backups will be erased. Not many administrators are able to make a statement telling users that their private messages truly remained private. I take pride in telling you that everything you did, expecting it to be private, always was private, and that's how it's always going to be.
I'm happy I made NK2 happen, and I'm proud of this ending. I met amazing people along the way, and now is a good time to move on from sweeties. This was only the test phase where a book had to be finished and put on the shelf. The legacy of NaughtyKids will live on in many hearts. Be kind, love others, do your best, and good things will come your way.
